Stalin's pitch for Rahul as PM is his opinion, not of alliance: Akhilesh

Lucknow, Dec 18 (IANS): Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday seemed to disagree with DMK president M.K. Stalin on projecting Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate of a united Opposition, terming it as "his own opinion".

The former UP chief minister said that many opposition leaders such as NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were attempting to bring like-minded parties to come together and stitch an alliance against the "unpopular BJP."

To a pointed query on Stalin batting for the Congress president for the PM's post, the 45-year-old leader said that "if someone is expressing an opinion, it need not necessarily be the opinion of the alliance".

There is growing unease in the SP leadership as well as its cadre on speculation about it joining hands with the Congress for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. While the party is keen to be seen on the same page as the Congress, obviously to safeguard its Muslim vote bank in UP, political observers feel the SP chief is slowly distancing himself from the Congress. He did not turn up at the swearing-in ceremonies of the MP and Rajasthan chief ministers, both from the Congress.

While the two parties joined hands for the 2017 state assembly elections in UP, they were routed and the BJP stormed to power.

I think this is not his opinion, it is his father Mulayam Singh told him it seems ,because he met Akilesh few days back. He is having a eye on that PM post.

Rahul Gandhi has done exceptionally marvellous job than any other PM has done with current scenario from criminal and arrogant BJP clutches. He has defeated BJP and fulfilled farmers demand. Can Modi compete with Rahul Gandhi on fulfilling election promises and working for people by talking less?????...He deserves to be a PM with his outstanding fete. If incompetent and feku king Modi can become PM then Rahul Gandhi is far better than him. He has that commanding and obliging appeal as a leader.

Quite true, it is the suggestion made by Stalin in isolation and has not been ratifeid by all opposition parties. Which ever opposition party gets the maximum number of lok sabha seats will be annointed the King or the King Maker.

In the present Juncture, all this is hypothetical and gets decided only after the results of the general elections.

The aim should be to pack of this unpopular Govt.

Akhilesh PM will be nominated after winning the highest number of MP seats by the Party CONCERNED. Rahul is still the favourite from Congress party if they win more seats. Ofcourse Pawar Ji and Mamata Ji are also want to become PM based on their party performance and support by alliance party's. SP party is already divided so no way you become PM in 2019.
