Chitradurga: Assumption High School holds silver jubilee celebration

Chitradurga, Dec 17: Assumption High School, Hiriyur, Chitradurga district, diocese of Shimoga, celebrated its silver jubilee in a grand manner recently. Manager-cum- correspondent Fr Franklin D'Souza, welcomed the dignitaries.

Fr Dr Francis Serrao was the president of the programme and he inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Fr Stany Dcunha, editor of jubilee souvenir, organised release of the souvenir 'Belli Kirana’. Fr Dr Francis Serrao released the souvenir.

Kannada medium headmaster Henry Crasta read the report. In his report he enumerated the achievements of Assumption High School.

K Matthai, administrator of 'Sakala' mission of government of Karnataka, was the chief guest. In his address he congratulated Assumption School for its wonderful achievements. Another guest was Poornima Srinivas MLA of Hiriyur constituency. She spoke about how to build the future being in the present. She enlightened the parents and children regarding importance of education.



Fr Stany Mariyappa founded Assumption High School in 1993 in Hiriyur. In his message, he thanked God for His mercy towards Assumption School. Anthony, DDPI of Chitradurga district also addressed the gathering.

Fr Veeresh Vincent Moras, secretary, Mount Carmel Education Society of diocese of Shimoga was another guest. In his speech he spoke about what is the real education? Where it starts? “It starts in the family. Family environment should be conducive for children,” he said.

Fr Roshan Pinto, director of SMSSSS, Chaitanya, and Sr Jude, superior of St Anne's Convent, Hiriyur, were the other dignitaries.

The bishop honoured Fr K Matthai, Fr Stany Mariyappa, MLA Poornima Srinivas, Fr Veeresh, DDPI Anthony and other dignitaries.

The bishop addressed and blessed the gathering. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of education and parenting. Manager and correspondent Fr Franklin D'Souza honoured the bishop.

English medium school headmaster Sr Bhagya Theresa formally thanked everyone. Then the cultural programme continued.

Teachers Dyanandappa and T Anitha compered the programme.

Children gave 18 beautiful programmes as the part of jubilee celebrations.
