Ghaziabad park contract terminated

Ghaziabad, Dec 16 (IANS): The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has initiated action to terminate the contract to run the Indira Priyadarshini Park after finding irregularities by two companies linked to politicians.

The action came after local municipal councillor Rajendra Tyagi raised the issue in September alleging wrongdoing by the politicians in connivance with a section of officres.

Municipal Commissioner C.P. Singh set up a committee which said that two companies involved in the contract had violated all the 25 terms issued at the time of awarding the contract for 27 years in 2006.

The committee said the two companies ran the contract without taking any permission from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and that no permission was sought to run commercial activities in the park.

Acting on the recommendations, the Municipal Commissioner issued a notice to the contracting companies asking why their contract not be terminated.
