Five fresh faces to walk LFW Summer/Resort 2019 ramp

Mumbai, Dec 14 (IANS): Five new faces will walk the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week's (LFW) Summer/Resort 2019 edition here.

The model auditions were held here on Friday.

A panel of judges chose five winners - Jayalakshmi, Shwetaa, Scarlet, Stacy and Kate -- after two competitive rounds of auditions, which saw around 100 aspiring Indian and International models participate.

The jury comprised a mix of fashion experts including actress Malaika Arora, fashion show director Anu Ahuja, Ashwath Swaminathan - Head of Innovations, Lakme and Jaspreet Chandok - Vice President and Head of Fashion, IMG Reliance.

The LFW model auditions have introduced successful names like Katrina Kaif, Yana Gupta, Mugdha Godse and Miss India World Kanishtha Dhankhar among others in the industry.

The initiative is an integral part of LFW's commitment to continuously provide a foundation for new and emerging runway talent.

Malaika said in a statement: "I give full credit to each contestant who came today to audition as I understand their anxiety of being on the ramp. What we were looking for was individuality on the ramp and we were glad to have discovered that in the winners we chose today."

Swaminathan is happy about adding a diverse set of faces who are fresh, talented and exude a lot of confidence.

Chandok said: "Another season of LFW brings together new opportunities and we look forward to these new finds breaking through and making their mark in the fashion industry."

LFW Summer/Resort 2019 is scheduled to take place from January 30 to February 3 at Jio Garden, Bandra-Kurla Complex.
