Udupi: Maryknoll high school Barkur holds annual sports meet

Udupi Dec 12: Annual sports meet of Maryknoll high school, Barkur was held recently. Fr Philip Nery Aranha, parish priest of St Peter’s Church, Barkur inaugurated the sports meet.

Addressing the athletes Fr Philip Nery Aranha said, “All the athletes should have sportiveness. You should take the result in a sportive way."

Speaking to the students, Sister Celvystina, school joint secretary, said “Interest and hard work are key to excel in sports field. Hard work pays in sports field."

Addressing the students, Bhujanga Shetty, physical inspector, said “Today’s well-disciplined marching shows that the children of this institution are well-disciplined. Discipline is very necessary for leading successful life."



Sister Celvystina, school joint secretary presided over the function. Physical Inspector Bhujanga Shetty lighted the sports baton. School sports minister Aravind administered the oath to the athletes. Gerald Gonsalves, vice-president of Parish Pastoral Council received the guard of honour. Govinda Nayak, PTA President was present on the occasion. Headmistress Sister Treeza welcomed the guests. Teacher Ramananda rendered the vote of thanks.

Prizes were distributed to the winners in various events.

Shaila D’Souza, President Barkur Gram Panchayat, Srinivas Shettigar, businessman, Ashok C Poojary, Yoga Instructor Sydey Lewis, Alumni Vivet Lewis, secretary of Parish Pastrol Council, Govinda Nayak, PTA President and Sister Treeza, Headmistress were present during the function.
