Muscat Mogaveera Koota holds fun-filled ‘Kadala Parba’

Muscat, Dec 12: Muscat Mogaveera Koota (MMK) Committee, organised ‘Kadala Parba 2018’, an authentic sea food festival comprising of mouth-watering delicacies of countless variety of fishes, on November 30 in a nearby farm house in Seeb, Oman.

It was an auspicious morning in Ahbab Farm in Seeb, where the entire venue was rebuilt to Tulunadu flavour by all the dedicated MMK volunteers.

The venue was decorated with mango leaves, plantain trees, tender coconuts, and the aroma of beautiful flowers.





The doors were open and all the MMK committee members were ready to welcome all the Muscat Mogaveera Bineeru (near and dear ones) dressed with traditional dress, dhoti and kurta for the Mogaveera men and glittering Indian sarees for the Mogaveera Ladies.
Chief guest of the day was B N Narasimha, president, Bengaluru Mogaveera Sangha.

All the respected Muscat Mogaveers community members and chief guest, were welcomed at beginning by MMK committee members with delicious Mangalurean breakfast of Sagigge Bajil (Semolina with beaten rice). The entire members enjoyed the delicious breakfast, with an unexplained expression of happiness and that taking them down to their hometown memory lane.

A grand Inauguration ceremony was organised by the committee members. President Shashi Puthran and vice president Shankar Kotian with B N Narsimha inaugurated the festival, in a well decorated podium by lighting the lamp and a devotional song rendered by Divya Karthik Kotian.

B N Narasimha in his inauguration speech, shared his immense experience as the Mogaveera community president in Bengaluru and reiterated on organising this type of gathering in the near future also. He also shared his vision of organizing a global Mogaveera community meet, which was also welcomed by Muscat Mogaveeras extended their complete support for the same.

MMK Koota had already arranged enough activities to engage all the members, till the live counters were ready to serve the delicious sea foods.

Muscat Mogaveera ladies displayed a Mogaveera cultural dance ‘Kadala Parba’ depicting our Mogaveera ladies’ activities their feelings, as always, their ability to take care of the entire family on their own. The entire community members, where mesmerised by their performance and took them all to the memory lane of parents and grandparents.

The participants of the Kadala Parba, dance programme was Vandana Padmakar Mendon, Ruchika Dhananjay Mendon, Chaitra Ashok Kotian, Ramya Gurudas Kunder, Devika Rahul Kunder and Mithil Ravi Kanchan.

A Bollywood mix dance from Sushmita Shesh Kanchan, a talented budding artist, took the entire crowd on their foot and enjoyed entire dance sequence.

The audience also witnessed a melodious karaoke from talented Ruchika Dhananjay Mendon entertaining the gathering.

MMK Koota had enough arrangements of Tuluva traditional games, just to involve all the seniors and the younger generations from our Mogaveera community.

Breaking the coconuts, hitting the pot with a blind fold and the all-time favourite Tug-of-war enthralled all the Mogaveeras.

All the members without any differences participated in the games, showing their oneness and pride of being the brave Mogaveeras. The enthusiastic ladies, team also equally participated in the tug-of-war, showing their strengths and also spreading their message of strength and confidence.

The winners of the coconut breaking game was Shailesh Kumar and the breaking the pot was Santhosh Bangera.

By the time the games were going on, the entire live food counters, were ready to welcome all the Mogaveera community members to embrace and feel and enjoy the sea food delicacies.

The entire Mogaveeras, sat together and enjoyed the mouth-watering sea foods that was prepared and served by the MMK.

Live cooking counters of countless type namely fish, prawn, squid, with tawa fry, fish grilled, fish masala fry, mouth-watering meenda gassi with evergreen champions anjaal, boldu maanji, melg, thyday, yetti, jenji, bondas including chicken sukka, chicken BBQ, dry fish chutney, traditional rice, taute saar, mannoli baaji, fresh sugarcane juice and fresh orange juice sponsored by Barakat Juice Co.

After having a royal Mogaveera lunch, MMK organised an action-packed afternoon and evening.

The entire community enjoyed the housie-housie game and exciting prizes where given to all the winners.

The winners were Purandar Kidiyoor, Dilip Suvarna (Jaldi five), Punit Kotian (Bottom line) Arun Kumar (Middle line), Mahesh Angalli, and Manoj Puthran (Top line), and Sandeep Maindan and Sudeep Salian (Full House).

A well-equipped swimming pool was welcoming all the community members and children, who all together enjoyed the water sports, once again, showing oneness and unity.

The highlight of the evening was the Mogaveera Chavadi, served with tea and traditional golibage.

The chavadi, took back all the Mogaveera community members once again to the memory lane wherein, they were sitting with grandparents outside the house with the neighbours, just sharing food, feelings, ideas and experiences. All the children used to get together and play around in front of the elders. Elders, even telling children their experiences, in the form of stories.

Sharing the experiences in between the community members was the important objective of this food festival and MMK Koota was indeed successful in depicting the same in the Chavadi once again and was much appreciated by all the community members.

There was an exciting raffle draw and exciting prizes were sponsored by Shankar Kotian and Ravi Kanchan.

1st prize winner ‘Lucky Mogaveera’ was Alok Raj, 2nd prize winner Kirti Jagadish and the 3rd prize winner was Devika Rahul Kunder.

The vote of thanks was given by Shesh Kanchan.

‘Kadala Parba 2018’ came to a closure by providing a short dinner for all Mogaveera Members.

The entire Muscat Mogaveers members, appreciated the food festival organised by the MMK committee members and assured their extended support in the near future also.
