Mangaluru: Thieves turned drug peddlers arrested, goods worth Rs 2.89 lac recovered

Mangaluru, Dec 11: Police arrested two peddlers of LSD drug in the city on Tuesday, December 11. The arrested are also suspected of robberies and thefts. Thirteen LSD drugs worth Rs 13,000, mobile hand set, scooter, cash, car, knife, and iron rod worth Rs 2,89,000 were recovered from them.

The arrested have been identified as Gautham (28), resident of Akash Bhavan and Loy Veigas (26) resident of Mandarabail, Derebail. Mangaluru south police inspector K M Sherif and staff who received definite clues that the suspects has stored the drugs near Heritage building for sale, went there and arrested the accused.

The arrested duo also confessed during questioning that they together with others had kidnapped Falnir Britto Lane resident Shimaaq on December 5 from Falnir, assaulted him and robbed his scooter, cash and mobile. Police have recovered the mobile hand set, scoter, cash and car used for the robbery from them.

Gautham has cases of assault and murder registered at Kavoor police station. The court has awarded life sentence for him but he has obtained bail from high court.

Loy Veigas has two cases of attempted robbery registered at Kavoor police station, one attempted robbery under north police station, one attempted murder and two assault cases under Barke police station and one assault case under Mangaluru rural police station.

Mangaluru south police station inspector K M Sharif and staff arrested the accused under guidance from senior police officials. Mangaluru central sub division anti rowdy squad police inspector Ravish Nayak and staff, Mangaluru east station police inspector Maruti Nayak, Mangaluru south station PSI Rajendra B, Manjula and staff helped in the operation.

    Chor police game which we were playing as small children is being followed in real life. Culprits are caught given life sentence and then bail so that the police again try to catch them and so the game goes on, only problem here is that some innocent people get hurt or killed here.
