Udupi, Dec 11: Shashidhar Suvarna, younger brother of Vaddarse village resident, Devendra Suvarna was employed in Mescom and had died during duty in 2016. Devendra Suvarna has urged to consider that as a special case and to give the job of his younger brother to him. He has decided to sit on indefinite protest in front of the office of the deputy commissioner for his demand.

Devendra had sustained injuries to his right eye and right ear in a bike accident in 2014. It has affected his eye sight and hearing. He needs to be on medical treatment till death. But he cannot afford the treatment.

He had appealed for monetary help to Karnataka chief minister and received Rs two lac from chief minister’s fund. Devendra was working as boat worker in the past. His brother was the only monetary support to the family. There is no source of income for the family after his death.

Devendra has a wife and two children who are in distress. Mescom executive engineer has replied that the job cannot be given to Devendra under rule 3, compassionate grounds and education.

Devendra had requested the deputy commissioner several times but not received a positive response. He has also written to the prime minister, but there is no reply. Therefore, he has told to media that he will sit on protest in front of the office of deputy commissioner until the deputy commissioner and the government take action.
