Panaji: Russian couple arrested for growing Cannabis plant

Anjuna, Dec 8: Police on Saturday arrested a Russian couple for cultivating a plant of Cannabis inside the residential apartment, rented out to them in the beach village of Anjuna in North Goa.

Anjuna Police Inspector C L Patil said that Russian nationals Viacheslar Terekhin and Anna Asharova both 38 years of age were arrested under Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act.

He said that the police raided their apartment after receiving the credible input about the plant being grown inside the four walls.

“During the raid, police recovered Cannabis plants, ganja, LSD papers and machinery used for plantation all worth Rs 15 lakh,” Patil said.
