Bengaluru, Dec 8: Two chain snatchers have been arrested by Malleshwaram police based on a CCTV footage recovered from a hotel.
The arrested are Mohammed Rafiq and Thousif Sadiq from Mangaluru.
According to police, the duo had been to Bengaluru to attend a relative's wedding at Rejoice Hotel in Malleshwaram last month. When a woman was waiting for a lift, the duo snatched her chain and escaped.
The incident was captured in a CCTV installed inside the hotel. Following a complaint by the woman at Malleshwaram station, the police arrested the duo with the help of CCTV footage.
It is learnt that the accused are already facing more than 25 chain snatching and robbery cases in Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga.
The police have recovered 120 grams of gold worth more than Rs 3 lac.
