Mangaluru, Dec 6: Ambika Nayak, who has been accused of conniving with another person, posing life threat and placing demand for one crore rupees from her own husband, faces fresh trouble now. Ambika, who has become untraceable, has now been booked by her childhood friend who has accused Ambika of sending her obscene and contemptuous messages.

This fresh case was booked in Sanjay Nagar police station, Bengaluru under IT Act. The case has thrown light on another dimension of Ambika.

Ambika's friend, who lives with her husband at Bengaluru, has claimed that between December 12, 2015 and February 10, 2016, Ambika had sent a series of obscene, contemptuous and threatening messages through WhatsApp to her and her husband. This friend has filed criminal defamation case in the first additional court at Bengaluru in addition to a defamation suit in the civil court. These cases are in the final stages of hearing.

Sanjay Nagar police had earlier arrested Ambika Nayak in this case and produced her in the court. She had later secured bail. Witnesses have been examined, and the judgment is expected to be delivered by the middle of next year.

It may be recalled that Ambika's father, K Vasudeva Prabhu, who has also been named in the extortion case, had been arrested and produced in the court. Prabhu has been ordered to be present in the court everyday instead of sending him to judicial custody in view of his advanced age. Later he was given bail.

Ambika Nayak and her friend, B Manjunath, who are the main accused, have so far succeeded in evading arrest. It is said that they have been trying their best to get bail in the case.

Sources also say that Ambika had tried to appear in the court here on Wednesday morning through her lawyers.
