Mangaluru Homestay attack case: Scribe Naveen Soorinje acquitted of all charges

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DC)

Mangaluru, Dec 5: City-based journalist Naveen Soorinje has been acquitted of all charges by the court in connection with Mangaluru Homestay attack case.

Naveen Soorinje, who was lodged since November 7, 2012 at district prison was released only in March 2013.

The coverage of the attack on men and women celebrating birthday at a homestay in the outskirts of the city by Soorinje had brought the issue to limelight. Following a chargesheet by Mangaluru police he was arrested and was named an accused with an allegation of indecent portrayal of women and abetting offences such as outraging the modesty of women.

The sixth additional district and sessions court has given the clean chit to Soorinje.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Naveen Soorinje said that he has faith in the judiciary. “I have been imparted justice and reposed my faith on the judiciary with court giving me clean chit in this case. I was only doing my duty at the time of the incident.”

The court has given clean chit to Soorinje while another journalist from the city Sharan who too video graphed the incident has not been acquitted of charges.

The infamous homestay attack had taken place on July 28 in 2012.

If someone wants to commit suicide (crime), he/she can call the reporter to video record the suicide process and the court can give the video recorder a clean chit for doing his duty . Am I right or wrong? We need to have higher court's review on this.

This kind of exoneration will give strength to criminals and for sure one day everyone's life will be miserable. Recently one killer who himself admitted for the crime and court acquitted him.

All are acquitted in India even though they did crime...... Mallya , Lalit Modi , Nirave and Choksi are unnecessary staying outside india for their crime. If they come back they will be acquitted of all charges. Only thing is they must know to whom and how much they have to pay.
