Udupi: Stranger attacks man at night, robs gold chain worth Rs 2 lac

Udupi, Dec 5: In an incident that occurred on the night of Tuesday, December 4, a man, who was urinating near the compound of his office, was kicked from behind by a stranger and as he fell to the ground, the robber snatched the gold chain from his neck and escaped from the spot.

Ravi Shettigar (37), son of Shankar Shettigar, residing at Shree Shubha, fourth cross, Lakshmindra Nagar, Kunjibettu, Indrali near here is the unfortunate victim who lost his gold chain in the robbery.

Ravi Shettigar, who arrived from Kundapur to the city at around 10 pm had gone to the office on  VST Road, where he worked, to keep a work related file. As he was returning, he stood near the compound wall of his office for urinating. Suddenly he was kicked by an unknown person from behind. Ravi fell to the ground due to the impact of the kick.

The robber snatched the gold chain that Ravi was wearing on his neck and escaped from the scene. The value of the chain which weights 58 grams is said to be Rs two lac.

A complaint in this regard stands registered in the city police station under column 392 of IPC.

It may be recalled that a senior was robbed during his morning walk in the same locality three days before.
