Vijay Mallya offers to repay 100% principal loan amount to banks

Mumbai, Dec 5(DC): Fugitive tycoon Vijay Mallya, who is being investigated for fraud and money-laundering, on Wednesday made an appeal to banks to accept his offer to pay back 100 per cent of the principal loan amount.

Mallya also denied that his move was linked to the extradition proceedings against him.

Mallya’s tweets came hours after alleged AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal middleman Christian Michel James was brought to India from UAE.

Michel's extradition the first successful extradition since India initiated similar proceedings against economic offenders like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi.

Vijay Mallya took huge loans from banks for keeping his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines afloat despite high jet fuel prices. The outstanding amount, including interest is Rs 9,990.07 crore.

In his tweet, Mallya also claimed that his vast liquor empire, the United Breweries, contributed “handsomely” to state exchequers.

62-year-old Vijay Mallya left India for the UK on March 2, 2016, and has been fighting India’s attempts to bring him back to face the legal action.

He is currently in London where a court finished hearing on India's extradition case against him in September this year and is due to pronounce its verdict on December 10.

This fellow should pay the interest too, why should the banks for go the interest. Would the banks for go the loan amount of the people who feed us I mean the farmers. The banks harrass the gullible farmers to repay the loan and to the extent they loose their lives. All should be equally treated with equal interest. The elections are approaching tomorrow Modi I saw that the money as come back. Just fooling the fools. The country should crush the lotus.

    Well planned strategy.

Fooling Indian electorate before elections and FEKHU & DAAKHU & JHOOTLEY all are busy calculating their moves.

Will this strategy works or backfires....only time will tell us.

Our country and it's economics is gone for a toss and sent back for another 15 - 20 years behind.

creating such a situation by running away from country with defaulting loans of government banks, fighting a court case in uk courts made mallya to give this statement yesterday rs. 100 crs only part his principal amount he borrowed what about huge interest amount for these long years. whose money? is it not the public money? depositors money bank has given as loan.
i strongly feel it is another excuse for postponing the court case and extend his stay in London.

Now that Govt has succeeded in getting Christian to India, we are sure next in line will be our own Mr. Vijay Mallya, Nirav & Lalit Modi & Mehul Choksi.

This s a good offer & banks should take it as it comes. Never say NO to money is what Business teaches us. What ever his back mind thinking is, Govt should consider and bank should say OK & wait & watch what's in store behind this.

It is better take money and leave him alone
If he brought then we get nothing.
His lawyers will fight and solve the case.
Just see the example of Eddi,he was jailed but now SC withdraw all cases that means India justice is either delayed or never done.

Mallya case is different than Christian's extradition to India.
If Mallya is extradited before elections he will definitely spill the beans as to his great escape from India. (Those who had collaborated in showing him the escape route) Even the government may accept to settle the case on principle repayment of the loan.

This is not the result of Christian's extradition to India, but Modi's bleak future post Rafale deal misappropriation being public. Thanks to Pappu, as you BJP guys fondly call him.

Now Mallya is sure that Modi's bubble has burst, he has no chance of coming to power in 2019. When that happens, all the absconders will have tough time getting an hour's sleep.

You don't have to, Kamath sir, because Mallya has millions of Rupees worth property in India that can be auctioned through court order and banks claim their dues.

But, Christian is not brought back for his worth - he was brought back to prove that Gandhi family benefited out of him, forgetting all other parties who have already proved to have been benefited. Do you see the irony ? Do you see the hatred Modi has for just one family ?

Well, please wait as I too do, let's hear Christian talking.

Madame, its Burnol moment for Congis as usual. The so called KHANgress never would have dreamt of it. Soon the maa betas bubble will burst. Next is Mallyas number to be dragged by his collar. Its high time for Cong to find some 3rd ranker like HDK to bank on and claim 'victory' as the RS losers in the Mlore coast celebrate Vijoyotsava.

Not Burnol, Nambiyar, keep ready ashes (boodi). You will need it to apply it all over you and go for a pilgrimage for worshiping a fake God named Modi.

Just wait for the royal life he lived out of your money, nutritious mushroosms he consumed to remain fair in colour, clothes five pairs a day he changed - all out of taxpayers money. For just one term that he snatched from your guys mouth by fooling you. You will recall the Rupee value against US$. though it doesn't matter to you inside India, you will recall Rs. 300/- you paid per gas cylinder till 2014 - you just keep stock of ashes.

Jenifer. Yeah one election could have been a Jumla, not 30 elections or 22 states where your 'down to earth' Clown Prince was humiliatingly trashed to pulp. More over even your overrated local Congi leaders too were wiped out in the RS elections. Its surviving only in 2 states because of Armender Singh and HDK.

Well, I don't know about you but 75% of the nation's population that form the middle class and the lower strata, will certainly not. Therefore, you know the reason behind all those wins you boast about.
