Beltangady, Dec 5: An RTI activist had complained about irregularities in a housing scheme of the government. When the officials visited the spot to check the facts contained in the complaint, boiling water was sprayed on him at Malebettu in Ujire village in the taluk on Tuesday December 4.

RTI activist from Ujire, Balasubrahmanya Bhat, who was injured because of the said attack, stands admitted into the government hospital here.

House under Basava Housing Scheme of the government had been sanctioned to Vinutha, vice president of Ujire gram panchayat. Balasubrahmanya Bhat had complained to Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation, alleging that Vinutha had built a house that is larger in size than what was sanctioned to her under the scheme.

The corporation accordingly had asked the taluk panchayat executive officer to investigate the allegation. A team comprising the taluk panchayat executive officer and officials visited the spot on Tuesday. The officials had asked Bhat to accompany the team during this visit, it is said. Bhat said that when he was in front of her house with others, Vinutha threw boiling water at him, duly injuring him in the bargain.

When questioned, taluk panchayat executive officer, Kusumadhar B, said that as the officials were ahead, they do not have clear-cut information about what happened. He said that when undertaking construction, the house plan had conformed to the norms but there is possibility of expanding its size later.

The policemen from here visited the hospital land collected details from Balasubrahmanya Bhat.

    Now even pouring boiled water also will not help.she has to face further action.Punishment is a must.either takeback her home ,and put her in jail,or destroy it.such a uneducated and miscrants.she must pay him compansation and lost pay .

    If the allegation by the RTI Activist was false, she could have faced the case boldly. But she acted cowardly. Sorry Bhatji, Nowadays, activists must brace up to the situation and then proceed. You can't even get protection from Police or Court because they have become puppets in the hands of worst Politicians.
