Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar says emergency situation persists at Sabarimala

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Nov 22: Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament (MP) and co-in charge of BJP affairs in Kerala, Nalin Kumar Kateel, accused Kerala government of failing to provide any basic amenities to devotees arriving at Sabarimala for pilgrimage. "At the same time, the state government there has been blocking entry of devotees through the police personnel deployed there. It has created a situation of emergency there," he said.

He was speaking to media persons in the city on Wednesday November 21 after returning from Sabarimala visit which he had undertaken on Tuesday to find for himself the prevailing situation there. He said that details of the findings of his study on the issue of Sabarimala would be brought to the attention of the central government during the next Lok Sabha session.

Nalin noted that it is but natural for the pilgrims who walk to Sabarimala from Pampa during this pilgrimage to take several hours. But the government has stipulated that the pilgrims should come back after paying obeisance to the deity within six hours. This is creating problems for the devotees. The government has been undermining the religious rights of the people by fixing time limit. This has made it clear that the days of Pinarayi’s power are numbered, he felt.

"If more than four devotees visit this centre of pilgrimage together, they get arrested. As a result, Sabarimala which witnesses influx of lacs of Ayyappa devotees during this season has only a small number of pilgrims now. Kerala government has miserably failed in providing basic facilities to everyone including pilgrims, police, staff of the bus and others," he complained.

Nalin said that facilities like toilets and drainage at Sabarimala are woefully short in comparison to actual needs. "As such, there is risk of epidemic spreading there. No basic facilities have been provided including the dining hall at the temple. There is shortage of rooms. Although the central government allotted Rs 100 crore to Kerala government to provide facilities, the state government has spent only Rs 18 crore," he stated.

He said that the situation has come to such a pass that those who hail the Lord by chanting 'Swamiye Sharanam Ayyappa' might get arrested."BJP leader, Surendran, and several others have been jailed exactly for this reason. During my study tour too, the police tried to arrest people who raised this slogan in my presence. After I protested, they relented. This kind of situation had not arisen even during the British era," he explained.

There is two significant development in India in the last one month of Prime Minister Modi India.
First, Archaeological Survey of India banning the practice of Muslims offering prayers in Taj Mahal which is practice for the last 400 years.
Secondly, In Sabarimala till the 1940s, women of all ages, if they could withstand the pilgrimage rigor, were allowed to enter the temple. But BJP is now calling openly for the contempt of the Supreme Court.
In the past, in Odhisa 'Kandmal' district Graham Stains and two budding sons were burned to death by the same fanatic Hindu group who are now protesting the entry of menstruating age women

Thanks to the RSS-BJP for this day of emergency without declaration in Sabarimala and PM Modi's India.
The RSS-BJP, which celebrated the apex court’s triple talaq judgment for liberating Muslim women, is now protesting the court’s interference in religious practices.

From imposing GST on 'Sanitary Pad' to menstruating aged women entering the temple sanctum, BJP's stand on women is completely exposed.

For the BJP, Sabarimala Is Not a Place of Worship But a Battleground.

don't publish any news pertaining to this moron, he is a blot on our community, we Mangaloreans are known for our intellect and broad minded nature. Every statement made by this good for nothing MP is absurd... Absolute zero contribution for the welfare of the nation.

He will certainly loose his deposit next election as my very close GSB and other Hindu friends and relatives will certainly not vote for him, infact those educated people who were once close to him, want to distance themselves fearing ridicule. Totally anguta chaap MP 8504

BJP is protesting both in favor and against the court verdict. It is absolutely hypocritical.

To get the favor from women voters it is sending its agents to Sabarimala. On the other hand it is letting its workers to stop the women from entering the temple.

Note that it was renewed by central govt proving that Nalin is powerless. Stop throwing stones at others when you have glass houses. Fix yours first

    Mr. Karkera...

Just as one should not mix religion with politics. similarly, you should not mix up one person's mindset with the other.

Thomas Macwan and the Imam may have said. I don't deny it. And I don't oppose them either. What can you expect when a bunch of killers from the Satan's fold (RSS/BJP) publicly lynch Muslims and attack nuns and priests and vandalize churches.

But now, coming back to Jossey Saldanha's remark, he was telling in general saying not to mix religion with politics. Did he point out to a particular religion. No.. Mr Karkera.. Jossey made a general statement.

Emergency like situation at Sabarimala created by the BJP and RSS and Undeclared Emergency prevailing across India because of BJP rule.

Supreme Court Order is Law and both the BJP and RSS do not want to respect the Law or the Supreme Court. They do not believe in Gender Equality and have proved to be Anti Women.

As the Supreme Court has not stayed its earlier order while reviewing the review petitions, responsible political parties should respect the Supreme Court order and await the final disposal of the review petitons.

This is not good at a worship place. I can't understand why people took this matter to court. Court can give justice only where there is a law. Worship places are purely headed by their leaders. Pray that it should resolved peacefully.
