Mangaluru Nov 20: Sabarimala Samrakshana Kriya Samithi along with BJP and Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) staged a protest here on Tuesday November 20, against the alleged atrocities of police over Ayyappa devotees at Sabarimala.

Addressing the protestors, Sabarimala Samrakshana Kriya Samithi leader Ganesh Pudhuval, said, "We condemn the atrocities of police personnel over Ayyappa devotees at Sabarimala. Kerala's chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan can be called as the Kerala's Tipu Sultan as his government continuously attacks the devotees and hurts the Hindu sentiments,”

“Yathish Chandra IPS has given the in-charge of the security of Sabarimala but Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan is misusing the police department through atrocities over devotees,” he added.

Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty said," We can witness tight security at Sabarimala and police personnel at Sabarimala have to follow certain rules like they are not supposed to wear belt, shoes and need to wear black shawl over their shoulders. Police should respond to the problems faced by people at Sabarimala. But the new IPS officer Yathish Chandra, who has given the in-charge of security at Sabarimala, is going against the rules and police personnel are kicking the devotees at Sabarimala,”

"This act has hurt the Hindu sentiments. Hindus are becoming soft targets these days. I request devotees not to offer even single rupee as an offering to Sabarimala. The judiciary before giving the judgement over religious issue they should have a study on the culture, traditions of it and this is the big miscarriage of judiciary,” Dr Shetty added.

District president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Jagadish Shenava, regional secretary Vishwa Hindu Parishad Sharan Pumpwell, district secretary Shivanand Mendon and others were present.
