Udupi, Nov 18: A number of Muslim leaders waited for the arrival of minister, Zameer Ahmed Khan, here on Saturday November 17 in vain.

Meeting of the Wakf advisory committee had been arranged to be held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee auditorium at the district office complex, Manipal, at 11 am on Saturday. The meeting was to be chaired by Wakf minister, Zameer Ahmed Khan. Muslim leaders and Wakf members were eagerly waiting for the minister's arrival. The minister, who was scheduled to attend the meeting at 11 am failed to appear even at 4 pm.

At the same time, the programme of the minister of visiting Congress Bhavan to hold meeting with party workers had been cancelled. As such, disappointment was in store for everyone who was eagerly waiting for Zameer Ahmed Khan's first ever visit to the district as minister. Although news trickling in said he was nearing the venue and kindled the hope of the waiting crowd, everyone was tired and disgruntled at the end.

The minister instead took part in some private programmes and directly proceeded to Kundapur without even setting foot in the district office complex. Therefore, the Wakf advisory committee meeting could not be held. Many expressed anger at the fact that the minister did not even bother to inform about his inability to attend the programme.
