Sharjah: Prestigious ‘Mayura’ Award conferred on philanthropist Michael D’Souza

Sharjah, Nov 18: Prestigious ‘Mayura’ award was conferred on Michael D’Souza on Friday, November 16 here on a grand ceremony. The award is given every year by Sharjah Karnataka Sangha to extraordinary achievers in society.

Michael D’Souza is a UAE based NRI businessman and philanthropist. He is also the CEO of Ivory Grand Hotel Group.

































  

Speaking on the occasion Michael D’Souza said “I am happy to donate. The satisfaction I get by helping the needy and downtrodden is unexplainable. I do not lose anything by donating, but instead I gain. I get more than I donate in my life. Let this be an example to other people, so that they help the people who are in need,”

Earlier the programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Kannada actor Ananth Nag was the chief guest. Harish Sherigar, Ronald Colaco, Ramachandra Hegde, Mark Denis, Sharjah Karnataka Sangha president Anand Bailoor and Noel Almeida lighted the lamp.

Ananth Nag and his wife Gayathri were felicitated on the occasion.

Sharjah Karnataka Sangha honours the people who offer special service to the Sangha every year. This year Satish Poojary and his wife Suvarna Satish were honoured by the Sangha.

Shashidhar Nagarajappa and his wife, who run a Kannada school in Dubai, were felicitated on the occasion.
Musical nite followed after the felicitation event led by Harish Sherigar. The audience enjoyed this very much which could be seen by their responses.

Harish Sherigar with Ramya and Akshatha sang the golden hits of Ananth Nag which took the music lovers to the olden days.

Krishna Prasad, Anitha, Madhura, Raviraj Tanthri, Ramachandra, a, Uday Nanjappa, Sai Mallika, Naveen Koppa, Ramachandra and Sukanya sang melodious Kannada songs.

Famous musician from Mangaluru, Raj Gopal and his troupe provided music.

Dances, Yakshagana and patriotic songs were performed during the memorable evening.

Ganesh Rai, Naveen Koppa and Rajesh Kuthar compered the programme.
