Kasargod, Nov 17: In a shocking incident, a police constable stabbed his relative to death on Saturday afternoon, November 17.

The deceased Madhavan Nayar (59) was a retired bank manager residing in Karadka Shantinagar.

Meanwhile, Adoor station police arrested Kasargod city station constable Sham (27), son of Madhavan Nayar’s wife’s sister in this connection.

According to the police, Sham had come to the house of Madhavan Nayar. Sometime later, the locals heard Madhavan’s screams and rushed to his house to find he was stabbed and lying in a pool of blood.

Sham tried to flee but was caught by the locals, who handed him over to the police.

Madhavan Nayar who was seriously injured, was rushed to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that property dispute is the cause of murder. There were fights between the two over property issues in the past. Madhavan Nayar had retired after working as manager in Kasargod district cooperative bank.

His dead body is taken to Periyaram medical college hospital for post mortem after examination in Kasargod general hospital.
