Daijiworld Media Network – Koppala (EP)

Koppala, Nov 17: The daughter of France based woman has been elected as president of Anegundi grama panchayat here.

France citizen who had come as tourist in 1965 had settled in Koppala . She later loved Shantamurthi, a local person and married him. Their daughter Anjanadevi is now the grama panchayat president.

Anjanadevi can speak in five languages including Kannada. Her family members are staying in France.

Anjanadevi who was initially identified in social work had contested from second ward of grama panchayat in 2015 under general quota and won. As the then president resigned, the position was vacant. Therefore, the members unanimously elected Anjanadevi as the president. The grama panchayat consists of Anegundi, Kadebagilu, Chikkarampur and Basavanadurga villages.

Anjanadevi said that her mother Sharada (Fransuva) is based in France. Her parents stayed near Anjanadri hills those days. Therefore she was named Anjanadevi. Her grandmother is still in France. “I have come after visiting them. I like India and I am happy here,” Anjanadevi said.

“I have indulged in social work since the beginning. I have tried to do something for the villages. I stood for elections due to pressure from villagers and won. I will do good work during my term,” she said.

Villager Shanmukha said that they have seen Anjanadevi since childhood. “We have made an educated lady the president as we want the villages to develop,” he said.

Queen Elizabeth is not an earner, instead she is a liability - the British citizens' taxes keep her going.

On the contrary, the Italian came as a daughter-in-law of a family of barristers since a century. Her husband's Gr-Grand-father and Gr-father were both lawyers and his mother PM and he a pilot before becoming the PM of the nation. That's not all, she herself is a MP and so is her son. First you check with Modi why he raised the MP's salary ato 200%

Compare with intellect gentleman, not with stupidity.

Great news. A French woman who loves India and is ready to work for the people. Good. We should ignore "chillar" comments of people like Deva, Pilar. Wherever or whenever these people like Pilar want to just politicize everything. All d best Anjanadevi mam. God bless.

Real essence of democracy we see in rural villages in local panchayats.

They do not indulge in party politics when it comes to development of their village.

Many are honest and sincere when it comes to public work. They will contribute money from their pocket and do develop lakes, schools, vented dams for agriculture etc. There are many examples of this.

Even though many are less educated or uneducated we see the sincerity in democracy.

I think many educated people of cities should learn from them. Many educated do not participate in electoral process and think from their own benefit.
