Karkala, Nov 17: St Joseph Church Belman recently celebrated 'Samudai Divas'.
The celebration began with a Eucharistic celebration. Fr Dr John Fernandes was the main celebrant and preached about the importance of the day. He said that forgetting one's own needs and helping others is really helping and caring.
Fr Edwin D'Souza parish priest, Fr Prakash Menezes and Fr Chetan Machado, director of YCS and ICYM of India celebrated the mass.
Soon after the mass, cultural programmes were held. Dominic Andrade was the anchor for the programme which comprised of various programmes held by the various wards and were praiseworthy.
Vice president Alwyn Agera welcomed the gathering, while the secretary Paustine D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
A sumptuous dinner was held after the programme prepared by the Parish Council under the leadership of Robert Dsouza and Stany D'Souza.
On the whole Samudai Divas was a grand success.
