Mangaluru: ED notice to D K Shivakumar will be handled legally - CM

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Nov 17: "There is no need to be panicky over the notice served on minister, D K Shivakumar, by the enforcement directorate. The minister will handle it within the legal framework," clarified Karnataka chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy. He was speaking to media persons at the international airport here on Friday November 16.

The CM was in the city to attend the marriage function of JD(S) MLC, B M Farooq's daughter held in the city. Several ministers, former Prime Minister, H D Deve Gowda, Revanna, Zameer Ahmed Khan and others had attended the function.

Replying to a question, he said it would be improper to treat the notice from the directorate as a measure of political vendetta without any basis.

The CM added that his government is committed to sympathetically consider demands of sugarcane growers.

MLC Bhoje Gowda, JD(S) district president Muhammed Kunhi, working president, M B Sadashiva, state minorities unit vice president, M K Khader, former minister, K Amarnath Shetty, and city block unit president of the party, Vasanth Poojary, were present.

JD(S) state president, H Vishwanath, too subscribed to the CM's view that it would be foolish to assign political designs to notice served on Shivakumar by enforcement directorate. He said that such notices get served and handled systematically as per law. He wondered as to why they need to be branded as having been backed by political deigns.

Meanwhile energy minister D K Shivakumar also visited he city on Friday morning and went back to Bengaluru in the afternoon. The reason for his visit is not known. It was not an official visit.
