State plans to develop Krishnaraja Sagar garden on Disneyland model

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Nov 15: The state government has drawn up a plan to develop world famous Krishna Raja Sagar (Brindavan) garden in Mandya district on the model of Disneyland. It wants to built a 360-ft high museum complex including a 125-feet-high statue of Goddess Kaveri.

The facility will have glass house with tower, museum complex, watch tower, band stand, indoor stadium, complete with items which depict past glory of Karnataka. Discussions about the plan of this project was held at a meeting of high level officials held on Wednesday November 14 at Vikasa Soudha here. The total project cost has been put at Rs 1,200 crore and the developments are likely to generate annual income of Rs 300 crore of which the government will get Rs 30 crore approximately.

The government plans to develop Brindavan garden without in any way harming its originality. Like the park on the banks of River Thames, a park will also come up on 400 acres of land. The government wants to complete the entire project costing Rs 1,200 crore in two years.

As per the proposed model, another tank would be built by the side of the tank currently used for boat ride. The 360-feet structure will be built in its middle, which will have the statue of Goddess Kaveri at the top of the complex. The museum building will be located at the feet of Kaveri. A glass house with tower will also be built. From both the buildings, a panoramic view of the dam would be available. The museum will have artifacts, antiques, ethnic ancient items, indoor stadium etc.

The state seems to have drawn inspiration from the construction of 182-metre high statue of Sardar Patel by Gujarat government. Shivakumar said that global tenders would be floated for the project, and it would be entrusted to an international level entity. He clarified that the government will only provide land for the project, and it will not spend anything for the project. He said that concerns having global level skill in artistic design can participate in the tender process.

I read somewhere that China is building world's largest Air purifier. This is laudable.

Building statues and parks is ok to promote tourism and revenues.

But as days go by the air we breathe and the water we consume is getting so polluted. Hence remedying this problem is the need of the hour.

I really wish the Government would think of such a project for the better and healthy living.

Over a lakh tourists visited the statue which you call useless. Value of land in the vicinity rose more than 10 fold than it was in 2013.
