Puttur: Illegal transportation of cows - cattle rescued, three held

Puttur, Nov 15: The Uppinangady police have succeeded in rescuing six cattle which were being transported in a violent manner by a goods tempo on Wednesday November 14 from near Kadambu in Perne on national highway 75.They also arrested three persons.

The arrested persons happen to be Vinay Kumar from Kannangaru, Kasargod, Sunil Kumar from Tallerivel Kanchirata and Suresh from Chengala, Chooripalla, Kasargod.

Uppinangady police got information that five cows and a calf were being taken to slaughterhouse in Kerala. Te police personnel led by police sub-inspector, Nandakumar, waited for and intercepted the vehicle when it came. In the meanwhile, a motor bike bearing Kerala registration number, which was used as an escort vehicle for the goods tempo, was also taken into custody. Total value of items taken into custody has been put at Rs 2.55 lac.
