Not only;y drought in 100 Talukas, even in the reaming Talukas, the rainfall has been excess or the Distribution uneven.

So actually only a handful of Talukas have received normal and evenly distribute Rainfall this year .This normal rainfall is a must for growing a decent crop.

Karnataka has just about 20 % of its area under Irrigation and the rest are depending on the vagaries of the Monsoons.
Apart from weather Issues, the Farmers in Irrigated tracts who have had a fairly good Crop have not got a decent price for their hard earned produce . Even Plantation tracts growing Coffee , Pepper etc have been badly affected.
