CCB police arrest native of Udupi for human trafficking of girls

Bengaluru, Nov 14: In a lightning operation that was conducted by the City Crime Branch (CCB) police on November 10, a man, native of Udupi district was arrested for keeping females under house arrest after bringing them to the city on the pretext of getting them jobs in ladies' service bars.

Praveen Shetty (38), son of Shekar Shetty, presently residing at 10th Cross, Papareddypalya, Nagarabavi in the city, who is a native of Herur Hoige Mane, Brahmavar Post, Udupi taluk and district, is the person who is under the custody of police now.

The Women's and Narcotics wing of the CCB police got a reliable information that Praveen has kept girls of outstation states under house arrest at a flat in Fourth Cross, Third Main, opposite SBI bank, RR Layout, Jnanabharathi post of Nagadevanahalli in the city. Police have confiscated a mobile and Rs 700 in cash from the accused. 15 victim girls, of which, three each are from Delhi and Punjab, four each from Mumbai and Rajasthan and one from Uttar Pradesh were rescued in the operation.

A case in this regard is registered in the Jnanabharathi polilce station and further investigation is in progress.
