Kuwait, Nov 14 : Recently concluded high-profile Konkani singing reality show, Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6, was a huge success in terms of the topclass performances, attendance as well as the show's reach across the globe.
The organisers Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) marked it's 30th anniversary in a grand style by hosting the finale of the sixth season of the reality show on Friday, November 9. In the days leading to the grand finale, KCWA had given an opportunity to followers of GVOM world-wide to predict both male and female winners and take home a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
Thousands of people from across the Gulf participated in the contest and about 175 entries predicted the victory of Clement Fernandes, Doha in male category and Sabita Mathias from UAE in the female category. Eva Wilma Pinto, incidentally a singer from Doha who has participated in all the GVOM contests so far ever since its inception in 2008, won the prize based on lots.
The prize money was sponsored by Richie and Jessie Monteiro, Kuwait.
Delighted to win the prize, Eva said she was overwhelmed. "I tried my best to reach the finals of every single GVOM, but so far I have not been able to progress beyond semis. Now at least I predicted right. This will inspire me to continue with my efforts and reach the goal in the upcoming contests.
"I like the voice quality of both Sabita and Clement. I told Clement and Sabita personally that they are going to win GVOM-6 and wished them good Luck. Both of them are my close friends. Both of them have sonorous voice and superlative talent. No doubt both deserve to be the winners. I like their dedication and never-say-die attitude.
"I am contributing the prize money for a charitable cause," Eva said.
A keenly-contested Gulf Voice of Mangalore was held at Sabah Al Salem Theatre. The 8-hour long event was attended by over 1500 people from across the Gulf, while the live webstream on Daijiworld was watched by over 40,000 people worldwide.
Lawrence Pinto and the late Louis Rodrigues founded the GVOM reality show that is held once every two years.
Mangalore Konkans Dubai has been declared the organiser of the seventh edition of show to be held in 2020.
KCWA president Stevan Rego thanked each and every one, especially sponsors and contestants for the tremendous success of the show.
Steevan Misquit was the chief co-ordinator of the event.
