Mangaluru: 26-year-old Wilson D'Souza dies on spot in bike-car collision near KPT

Mangaluru, Nov 13: One person died in a road mishap occurred near KPT between a bike and a car late evening on Tuesday, November 13.

The deceased has been identified as Wilson Caniel D’Souza (26), son of Rafael D’Souza and Mable D’Souza and residents of Fajir. Evan Elroy Mendonca from Fajir is the pillion rider who suffered minor injuries. The accident occurred at around 8 pm between a KTM bike and a car. 

It is said that the two people were on the bike which rammed into the rear of the car. Wilson was flung on to the road thereby coming under the wheels of a bus.

The body of the deceased has been shifted to a private hospital. Evan, who suffered minor injuries is admitted to the same hospital and is said to be recovering. A case has been registered with north traffic police.

    Dear readers, I may be wrong but a small opinion...
    There must be a additional subject named ROAD SAFETY for High schools & Junior Colleges.
    So that Children or Students can study, understand the problems and conditions, Alerts, Advantages & disadvantages and also can prepare for the exams. The Driving schools can check the Mark lists once they score final exam marks and accordingly can give admission for students , train them and issue the license once they pass road test.

    This will help to reduce accidents in future and save lives.

    I drive to and fro to Udupi everyday. I have seen there is no lane discipline, no control over speed and two wheelers ride like they are inside a video game. And except for a few unrealistic barricades, there is not one cop or highway patrol in sight.

    No one to educate about safety, lane discipline. Two wheeler riders ride in the middle of the road instead of riding on the extreme left. Trucks too drive on the right which is the fast lane. There is total chaos on our highways.

    Noone cares !! People dying on our highways has become just another random incident

    Well I witnessed this accident yesterday. The main rider Wilson was in high speed he hit the car and was thrown on the road. The bus driver of Alva's did not see him on the road cause there was heavy traffic and the tyre immediately squishes the boys head and he died immediately. It was their fault. They were too fast .

    Sad but true.
    He was definitely trying to pass through the narrow gap between the bus and the car. But alas!
    More youngsters should watch this video and learn.

    Life is not a test cricket where you have a second innings. So be intelligent and don’t get stumped!

    I too agree with this. We should be careful while riding these kind of bikes. And parents too should be cautious while buying these bikes to children of age group 14to 24. I too witnessed while driving my car from Pune to Mangaluru, on Kolhapur to belgavi highway, I was at 100kmph speed, the bike zoomed past me overtaking and disappeared within seconds indicating may be he was riding at 150kmph ktm or Duke. I couldn't imagine what would happen to him if he skidded or sudden obstruction on the highway. Need to be very careful on the road else one might lose life creating big sorrowful gap among loved ones and in the family. NO STUNTS THE ROAD PLEASE. ALSO DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. SPEED THRILS FOR A MOMENT BUT IT KILLS IN NEXT MOMENT.

    When are our corporations, govt., & other responsible bodies going to construct proper roads with lanes identified & marked, streetlights working, footpaths available, drains properly constructed, debris removed from the road...
    KPT circle is a nightmare, you cross it with a prayer, fox & rabbit style. Big pothole in the middle, no street lights at night, bus stop at the circle.
    How many people check their lights before starting the car, so many vehicles without working tail lights, indicators, head-lights. No working brake lights which causes accidents as the vehicle behind them does not know they are braking.
    The traffic police are absolutely useless & have no idea what they are doing. Truck, buses, autos, cars driving without proper lights working. Has a single vehicle ever been stopped by the traffic police for this violation of non working head & tail lamps?? Tyres are in poor condition, tread is worn out, cops say that the RTO checks during the fitness test which is once in 2 years. What happens between those inspections?
    They made huge huha about CCTV being installed. Can they check the CCTV to decide what caused this accident?? Why blame the boy on the bike just because he was riding a bike??

    "Again KTM. " I have heard from a friend of mine that KTM bikes usually meet with accidents. That friend of mine is in Calicut. We cannot hold the bike responsible. I think riders/drivers should drive sensibly and govt. should also make the roads good for driving. Not being rude to the family of the deceased, I would add one more thing that is when the time comes we have to leave this world, that's it. I used to drive rashly but never met with accident because I think God was kind to me. Now as I have grown older, I drive sensibly and responsibly. May Wilson's soul RIP and may God give strength to his family and friends at this hour of grief.

    We cannot make bike or car brand responsible for any accidents. It is people who ride or drive it are responsible...

    First thing is to drive /ride any vehicle responsibly. You need to respect /love your vehicle since you have paid money for that. Involving in any accidents makes irreversible damage for you and your vehicle. Person who buy any vehicle after hard earned money tend to respect his/others vehicles too.. Banks give crazy motor loans and these problems have evolved....

    Vehicles are only good in countries where there are good roads, ample lighting and people who strictly follow road safety regulations. .Use public transport or expect untimely and unexpected death...I have lost friends and relatives ...it is painfull and sad..

    Ban ktm ???? ..it better to ban driving Liscnce till age 35 it can be also done write ..y only ban ktm ...ktm is a machine which don’t have brain but people like u n me have brain wire to follow traffic rules n drive slowly ...first watch accident ktm by its own did not hit the car but the rider did it n payed the loss ...speed trills but kills ...its not ktm kills ,,,

    Y n for what Ktm should ban ..did ktm manufacturers told to go in high speed...???? Bike ‘s don’t have brain rider have brain ...so it not mean of bike is 1000 cc n go in full speed n get accident and Blaim the bike ??...same way ktm will not move buy it’s own some one have to ride ...

    We cannot ban KTM Bikes but looking at the condition of our roads & traffic the manufacturer of this Bike should cap the speed @ 80 Kmph ...
