Mangalurean’s fiery video clip against public holidays goes viral

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DC)

Mangaluru, Nov 13: Shashidhar from Mangaluru who had come to Karnataka Information Commission following a notice on hearing an appeal was stuck in Bengaluru after the state government declared holiday due to untimely demise of union minister H N Ananth Kumar.

Frustrated over repeated public holidays, Shashidhar in a video shot by himself lashed out at government officials and concerned authority for declaring holidays and causing inconvenience to the common man. The video has now gone viral on social media.

In the video, Shashidhar says that he had already left to Bengaluru and came to Mahiti Soudha seeking justice. "When I reached Bengaluru, the state government had declared public holiday to all government offices and courts following death of union minister Ananth Kumar. Already, government officials have almost 180 holidays in a year with weekly holiday, leaves and other holidays celebrating various jayanthis like Buddha, Tipu, and Valmiki. We are paying for their salaries on these holidays with our tax money. The government should work for people. But why this government causes inconveniences to people by declaring holidays every now and then?" he asks.

"I have come from Mangaluru leaving all my work. There are others too who have arrived from faraway places seeking justice. Why declare holiday if a politician or minister dies? These government officials
enjoy life with luxury with our money and we are looking after white elephants by giving them more holidays like this. We are not slaves to these politicians or government officials. If you are declaring holidays, you should cut their salaries for that too,” he added.

He further urges CM Kumaraswamy to stop this trend of declaring holidays. "If you continue to declare holidays, then pay for accommodation, food and other travel expenses of people who face inconveniences like us. In a democracy how can this happen? We are neither beggars nor jobless. There should be an end to this worst system of declaring holidays,” Shashidhar is seen urging in the video.

The video has gone viral and is receiving positive response from netizens.

Really Really Hats off to you Sir!!! Thank you so much for echoing our sentiments. Every word you said is a reflection of what every common concerned Indian citizen feels. If we don't stand up against this senseless narrow decisions by the government everyone will continue to keep suffering more and more (Already we are suffering). There are around 180 days working days left now in a year for this government. Imagine if this trend of giving holidays at the drop of a hat continues. In Bangalore we pay hefty property tax ,but the garbage contractors dont come and pick garbage. Even after calling them repeatedly and begging ,they dont come (Even after doing waste segregation and composting). They will go to places where money is paid . You can understand why this is happening and the larger nexus of the mafia and the government. God save this place.

I remember those days once we had come from Mumbai to Mangalore and we had to go to bank since ATMS were not introduced yet.

For our utter surprise banks were closed in a week day saying "Basava Jayanthi'

What banks got to do with Basava Jayanthi after enjoying somany privileges from our money?
    There should be some limit.

Vote Bank Government should brilliantly follow other advanced and developed countries which were far behind India one time.
Specially Middle east, They don't have holidays like India for each and everything like us all Jayanthi's, Government should limit the Jaynathis.
Upcourse in India Government servants have more than 182 days holidays a year including 2 days weekly off which is too much, Even then every full moon day they insist holidays without any reason which will not take us anywhere.

India is having somany backlog work in RTO licenses issue and renewals are pending for more than 6 to 8 months.People have to wait even after paying all charges in advance.
Thousands of cases are pending in courts from years and years even after judges retire cases are still pending.

Government is good in only eye wash everytime ,giving 1Rs rice ,Bhagya Jyothi etc.

Recently a RTI activist found out in a state : to release a 3 lacks Rs aid to poor people CMS office arranged a function! you know the total cost of that function?
Only Rs. 27 Lacs! by the way whose money is this? to disperse Rs.3 lacs aid to poor government is spending a 27 Lacs for a function?
Where government is taking us in the name of religion food style etc?

In democracy people should learn to give fitting reply and all should support for the future of next generation.

I hope Government will not call the person Deshdrohi!

It is high time India adopts a 5 working day week. In this manner all the Jayanthis, etc. can be kept on a Saturday.
On Saturdays other than daily labour, there is no point in going to work since the cost of fuel, etc does not justify a half day's work. The country will save on fuel, electricity, utilities, etc. The whole world has moved away from a 6 day working week, but in India, we say we are like this only.

People will get more time with their families.

What a waste of time, money & energy.

If PM Modi and BJP Govt is serious about the unwanted Govt holidays and has any concern towards the general public, it should keep maximum 10 public holidays in a year and cancel all other holidays. Otherwise dont receive salary from people's tax money.

Well done and well said Shashidhar. Except PM or President all are same citizens why holidays on their death. That too holiday for a politician not in power.

My similar bitter experience I want to share: I went for the exams and my last exam was on Friday and they suddenly declared public holiday for some such reasons. I had no slot available till next 7 days. I was suppose to report to duty on Sunday. After explaining my plea and sending them the copy of my air ticket, they finally arranged a slot for me on Monday as the earliest, as Sunday is holiday in India.

You can just imagine the inconvenience and losses i suffered of changing Tickets and Taking extra leave from my company. These politicians dont know common mans difficulties.

Mr. Shashidar has faced inconvenience due to the sudden declared holiday. But does shashidhar work during declared and undeclared holidays looking at the fact there would be people looking for his services during those holidays?

If he releases a video stating that he is working during holidays i would agree on his video.

Am not justifying his point of view but its a common fact everyone enjoys paid holidays.

Well done Shashidhar and Hats off to you for venting your anger publicly through this video.Whatever you said is truly agreed and I am with you.But declaring a holiday for the unexpected death of ministers, prime minister and high rank officials has been in vogue since time immemorial and in practice till date apart from other holidays of the year.Even if the holiday is being declared, concerned departments, responsible authorities should know the problem, difficulties one should face those who have been intimidated well in advance. In such cases, either clients, party should be informed about the sudden developments or responsible authorities in the concerned department must be present and carry out the proceedings in order to avoid any kind of inconvenience and confusion.Party, clients cannot be held responsible and bear the brunt due to this sudden changes, who came all the way from different places.Important departments, service centres must function without any break.Otherwise clients, customers who are coming from far distances in order to get their work done must be compensated by way of reimbursing all their expenses incurred for their travel/journey.Many holidays such as celebration of various Jayanthies, death anniversaries etc should be cancelled because it is mere waste of public tax money.Instead government can focus on many other developmental works rather than enjoying holidays at picnic spots,at home in the name of holidays at the cost of tax payers money.Government is by the people,of the people and for the people.

Shashidhar really faced too many problems due to this holiday. He has not brought in Modi/Congress. You who brought in Modi here politicizing the issue. All these state funeral, holidays for politician's deaths, jayanthis should be stopped. All these holidays affect common man like Shashidhar and us and it may not affect you Roy. You need to grow up man. You don't even have common sense while typing you should not use capital letters.

It is not BHAKTH, NON BHAKTH or NEUTRAL Persons, but everybody feels the brunt of situation; When Govt. job is treated as Gods Work, ( sarkari kelasa Devara kelasa) why holidays for every jayanthis, demise of politicians etc. When situation is out of control due to natural calamities, then it is justifiable. How many holidays Govt. employees enjoy in an year compared to others. Concerned Departments, please look into this.
I have a suggestion; why not Govt. think of having work from 7am to 9 pm( 2 shifts); most of the people who are on office work get the enough time to get their work done from Govt. offices.
