Udupi: Inter school chess tournament inaugurated in Vakwadi Gurukula public school

Udupi, Nov 13: “Emotional and psychological evolution is possible through chess. It is helpful to boost confidence and creativity among students. Special importance was given to chess in India since historical times. But such sports have increased curiosity among students and parents these days,” said reputed doctor of Kundapur Dr Ram Mohan. He was speaking after inaugurating inter school chess tournaments in Gurukula public school.

Salim Vegum was present as the chief judge. Joint executive of joint school, Subhaschandra S Shetty and Anupama S Shetty were present. School principal Arvind V Murali gave the key note address.

More than 300 students from Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga took part in the tournaments.
