Bagalkote, Nov 10: Former deputy chief minister and BJP leader K S Eshwarappa offered Pooja to the lake at Kalasakoppa, Beelagi taluk in the district by wearing shoes. MLA Murugesh Nirani standing next to him had whispered asking him to remove shoes, but Eshwarappa did not make an effort.

Speaking after getting Kalasakoppa Lake filled through Kaladagi irrigation project water, he said that Tipu's blood does not flow among us. “It is the blood of freedom fighters that flows in our bodies. Nobody has asked to celebrate Tipu Jayanti. Unrest in the state is being created due to the Jayanti celebrations. Chief Minister Kumaraswamy had visited the residence of Kuttappa who had died during last Tipu Jayanti celebrations. He had assured to the son of Kuttappa that he will not celebrate Tipu Jayanti if he becomes the chief minister. But he is himself celebrating Tipu Jayanti now,” he shot back.

“BJP is protesting in the state against Tipu Jayanti. Fortunately or unfortunately Kumaraswamy has continued as the chief minister. He gets opportunities to continue as CM due to coalition government. Hindus and Muslims had a cordial relationship in the state before Tipu Jayanti celebrations. Congress government is pitting Hindus and Muslims against each other and silently watching the drama.”

As a reporter asked about Janardhan Reddy, a visibly annoyed Eshwarappa quipped that they have no connection with Janardhan Reddy. “Do not ask anything about it,” he said before walking out.
