Udupi, Nov 9: “Life for ordinary people has become difficult after demonetization. Small and medium class entrepreneurs who were the backbone of the country have not recovered yet,” lashed former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was speaking in protests by district congress committee in front of Ajjarkadu martyrs memorial on completion of two years after union government’s invalidation of high denomination currency notes. “Demonetization had negative effect on jobs. Banking industries are stuck in loans. The country is facing hardship because of venturing without knowing economic policies,” he said.

“Hundreds of people in the country became victims. They had to stand in front of ATMs the whole days for cash.”

KPCC chief secretary G A Bava said that the prime minister had given three reasons for invalidating high value currency notes. “We will stop fake currency, bring out black money and stop flow of money to terrorists. None of those intentions are fulfilled,” he said.

“Narendra Modi had said that he will bring back black money before Lok Sabha elections. He failed to fulfil the promise. Congress will continue its fight against anti people policies,” he said.

Amrith Shenoy said that Modi had promised many things before coming to power. “All of them have become false. People have lost hope on union government,” he said.

KPCC chief secretary M A Gafoor, Congress district president Janardhan Tonse, Taluk panchayat member Dr Sunitha, Murali Shetty, Narasimha Murthy, Shivarama Shetty, Belapu Deviprasad Shetty, Navinchandra Suvarna, Muniyal Udaya Kumar Shetty, Amrith Shenoy, Veronica Corneleo, Chandrashekar Shetty and Nithyananda Shetty were present.

Politics on Ram Mandir

“BJP remembers construction of Ram mandir in Ayodhya when elections are approaching. It does not say a word on other times,” said former minister Vinaya Kumar Sorake.

“Congress party has won in four constituencies in Vidhan Sabha elections this time. It could win in Shivamogga also if we had tried a little more. Congress will win more seats in the next Lok Sabha elections. By elections results are an indicator for it,” he said.

“BJP is creating stories and trying to attract people. But Congress will get the upper hand in elections in five states,” he said.
