Udupi: Padur strategic petroleum reserve to be filled under PPP

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 9: The union cabinet meeting held on Thursday November 8 has decided to allow national oil companies of other countries to directly fill crude oil into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve that has come up at Padur near here.

The underground cavernous petroleum reserve that has been created here is aimed at helping the nation to draw on the oil stock in case of emergency. The facility at Padur can store 2.5 million metric tonnes of crude oil. The government has planned to allow the reserves to be replenished under Public Private Partnership so that the financial burden that the government has to bear could be distributed among the partners.
