It is sad that although we have anti-ragging committees in colleges, sections in IPC, the menace of ragging is prevelant. Moreover, majority of ragging victims remain silent and bear the torture. Hostels are the worst dens for ragging. Especially when students have annual sports meet or any special events, students are being forced to participate and are being ragged by the senior students.
Those who are found guilty should be severely tried under IPC and immediately stern action needs to be taken.
Anti-ragging helplines should be set up and whistle blowers should be encouraged to report crime. Whistle blowers names should be kept confidential, only then people will report the cases. Action should also be taken against colleges who do not report the incident to the Police

Utter insult of law and order. Why Jyotsna should leave hostel and stay in PG accommodation ? Police and school management are allowing the warden and senior students to unleash terror on junior students. Where is anti ragging law?
I think none of them are Kannadigas.

Better she leaves the college and continue her studies else where. Life is more important than education. I have read many such stories of hostel ragging and harassing the junior students and was ignored by the parents as well as the police department. later the students committed suicides. I wish that the student leaves the college and hostel for good.
