    Jews crucified Jesus,
Moguls & Hindus did the same by destroying temples & churches,
What we are doing now is the same fighting, lynching & killing each other,
because we do not know our own scriptures or we simply don't understand.

There may or may not be a need for a Tipu Jayanti. But the stories about his "brutal oppression" were mainly created by the British to avoid any back-lash after they cowardly killed him with the help of his body guards in the last war. He did imprison and kill many Christians and Hindus but not for the religious reason (as claimed by the British) but because he saw them siding with the British and considered them as traitors. Of course the british account of Tipu had been adopted now by the radical people because it suits their agenda.

He fraught against British, But that does not mean he is freedom fighter.. Bcz He was with another foreign force, French. do we prefer French over British colonies?

He did not kill people during battles, that is not excuse. He killed innocent brahimins inMelukote while they were getting ready for Deepawli, he killed Kodavas, he torchered Mangaore xtians, most of 20000 died.

He was not a hero, most of his battles were 'outsourced' to smaller hindu kings, thru blackmaling

The only battle he faught was the 4th war of myore - wehre he was finaly killed for good.

Pl read the french dairies of those days.. dont worship cowards

Jossey and Rolf bhai.. google and see about tippu atrocities. His own son has written in his literature about his father's atrocities. Based on such facts of history, celebrating tippu jayanthi doesnt seem to pride in a democratic state.

Nonsense! What similarities you find between Jews and Tipu? The Jews are a people and Tipu was a person. We don’t hate present day Jews who suffered the severest persecution under Hitler. Though Hitler was a Christian we hate him for his atrocities against the Jews. Similarly we hate Tipu only for his atrocities against Hindus and Christians, but we don’t hate his son or his father Hyder Ali.

Yes very true John what you said... Mercilessly taken our young generation of those days. Church is protected by our dear bunt families for whom we still bow down in respect.
Till now our Hindu families are honoured during our annual parish feast.
Our people died martyr death..cannot honour tippu at all. Our religious leaders should think over this.

    Jossey,

So is Germany. do they allow neo-nazi to celebrate Hitler`s birthday over there?

Its disgusting as it is but to read some people defend the celebration is saddening. especially from a descendant of the people who suffered under Tipu.

By the way, India is a republic, not a democracy.
