Mangaluru: St Agnes College inaugurates NSS special camp

Mangaluru, Oct 31: The NSS Annual Special Camp (National Services Scheme) of St Agnes College (Autonomous) for the academic year 2018-19 was inaugurated at aided Uchila Bovi Higher Primary School, Someshwara, Uchila on October 29.

Devadas C. Uchil, Correspondent of Uchila Bovi Educational Institutions inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp and assured his wholehearted co-operation for the success of the camp. Charles Pais, registrar evaluation, St Agnes College (Autonomous) spoke on the occasion, shared his experiences as a former NSS programme officer, motivated the volunteers to actively participate in the programmes, appreciated the support extended by the parents and applauded the enthusiasm shown and co-operation extended by the management of Uchila Bovi Educational Institutions. Shanthi Nazareth, student welfare officer, congratulated the volunteers, emphasized that the need of the hour - service, and wished them success in life. Sr Dr Maria Roopa, joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, invited the volunteers to grab the
opportunity and acquire life skills needed to lead a happy life. She highlighted the significance of sacrifice and service in one's life and called upon the volunteers to bring smile on the faces of less fortunate ones by their exemplary role as NSS volunteers.



Balakarnavaru, head of temple, Shree Bhagavathi Kshethra, Adka, Blossom Rego, vice president, PTA, faculty of the college, religious sisters, parents, staff of Uchila Bovi Educational Institutions, invitees and localities were also present.

The NSS Volunteers presented a meaningful cultural programme depicting the objectives of the camp. The program concluded with the NSS anthem.

Derick D’Souza welcomed the dignitaries and audience, Seema proposed the vote of thanks and Nikshitha compered the programme.

Four NSS programme officers, four support staff and 106 NSS volunteers are actively involved in meticulously planning and implementing the camp objectives. During the 7 days of residential camp the volunteers will render service (shramadhan), participate in training sessions, conduct health camp, organize various competitions for the public and create awareness about cleanliness.

Helen Serrao and Anitha S, NSS programme officers, Derick D’Souza and Seema, assistant NSS programme officers, Nerissa Noronha and Melrida Moras, volunteers’ leaders are responsible for steer heading the camp.
