Udupi, Oct 31: Annual Sports meet of Milagres English Medium Schools for the year 2018/19 was inaugurated at Milagres College Grounds with enthusiasm on Tuesday, October 30.
The guests of the day were warmly welcomed through melodious bass band of the school to the state of guard of honour which has been prepared for the purpose. Fr Dr Lawrence C D’Souza, correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions, along with the guests witnessed and took the guard of honour from huge athletes. Wow wonderful, disciplined, colourful, fantastic that was the spot of the grand march which was witnessed by Fr Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza, Vinay John Lewis, alumnus, PTA presidents’ Umesh Parampalli and Sunitha Lasrado, Fr Lancy Fernandes, principal of Milagres English Medium Schools, Veera D’Silva, headmistress of Milagres English Medium Primary School and others.
After the grand wonderful march of the athletes, Fr Dr Lawrence D’Souoza hoisted the school sports flag and later the Olympics torch fire brought from district, state level athletes lit by the correspondent Fr D’Souza.
The two days annual sports meet inaugurated by letting out colourful balloons in the air and sports meet declared open by chief guest Vinay John Lewis, who is the an alumnus of Milagres Institutions and winner of prestigious Gulf Voice of Mangaluru in Konkani songs at Kuwait.
Speaking in his address on the occasion, he said that it will be a great pride and privilege for him to be on this ground where he played, taken part in sports march past and whatsoever during his school and college days. It was wonderful to witness the guard of honor by the great athletes of the school. He said that Milagres English Medium School having excellent record of the vast development and the excellent standard in all fields. He is very much proud that he was one of the students of Milagres Institutions.
Fr Dr Lawrence D’souza spoke during in his presidential address and appreciated the students for their beautiful march past with dignity and discipline.
After the welcome dance by the students, Shifath welcomed the gatherings. Prashanth delivered vote of thanks while Volita Lewis Carvelho compered the inaugural programme of the annual sports meet.
