Kundapur, Oct 24: “The union government has suspended its scheme of supplying kerosene to fishermen. It has also reduced its share of project cost with regards to port projects. Therefore, the state government alone is faced with the task of providing all the necessary facilities to fishermen and it is bound by this commitment. It is already providing loans to fisher-women at zero percent interest. All the problems of fisherfolk will be solved and their demands will be fulfilled,” said Karnataka minister of fisheries Venkata Rao Nadagouda.

He was addressing the fisherfolk after visiting Maravanthe fisheries port. “None of the promises made by BJP before it rose to power at the centre have been fulfilled. Instead of working for the poor, fisherfolk and middle class citizens, the central government has been busy supporting capitalists like the Ambanis. It has not given even a single paisa for the loan waiver scheme of the state government. It has remained mute spectator to the spiralling prices of petroleum products and items of daily use. Fisherfolk should understand these things and support the coalition government candidate in the by-election,” he urged.

Congress party leaders S Raju Poojary, S Madan Kumar, S Prakash Chandra Shetty, Vikas Hegde, Ramakrishna Kharvi, JD(S) leader, Yogish Shetty, Sandesh Bhat, Ravi Shetty, Dharmalinge Gowda, Yasin Hemmady, Ranjith Shetty, Dillesh Shetty, fishermen leaders Mohan Kharvi, Chandra Kharvi, Chandragupta Kharvi and others were present.

Press conference

“The promises made by Narendra Modi of unearthing black money, transfer of money to the bank account of citizens, creation of jobs, taking steps to augment farmers income etc have not been realized. But he has not stopped giving speeches. People have come to know that development of the country and solutions to the problems will not be possible by his speeches,” Nadagouda observed.

Congress party leaders S Raju Poojary, S Madankumar, JD(S) leader, Yogish Shetty, Vasudeva Rao, Ravi Shetty, Sandesh Bhat and Anita Shetty were present.
