Constitution Bench to decide on plea for EC collegium


New Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Tuesday referred to a Constitution Bench a plea seeking formation of a collegium for appointing the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commissioners.

A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjay Krishan Kaul referred the matter to a larger bench as it involved the interpretation of Article 324(2) that deals with appointments to the election watchdog.
