Karkala, Oct 23: A person was done to death by stabbing him with a knife at Belottu House in Jyotinagara in Kukkundoor village here.

The murder happened on the night of Sunday October 21.

As per information, the murder was committed by Troy Hillary (53) who has settled down in Mumbai. The man who was killed happened to be Alexander John D'Mello (64). The accused fled from the scene after the murder but the police managed to nab him. The police found him waiting for a vehicle to escape near Joduraste, and caught hold of him.

Alexander used to live in his house alone as his wife lives in an Ashram at Mangaluru. He happened to be a friend of Troy Hillary. It is said that Alexander came in contact with Hillary when working for a ship at Mumbai. The acquaintance soon turned into friendship, and Hillary often came from Mumbai for the specific purpose of visiting the deceased, it is said.

During his visits, Hillary used to stay in the residence of Alexander for four to five days on an average. On the night of Sunday, both of them had together consumed liquor. Later, on some issue, the two fought with each other. The fight culminated with Hillary stabbing Alexander with a knife. The police of the town station here have registered a case and begun investigation.

It is said that the neighbours who heard the sound of their arguments and fight, did not bother about it as quarrels between the two happened often. However, at night, Hillary called Alexander's wife and told her that her husband had been hurt and was lying on the ground. She conveyed this information to her younger brothers living nearby. They came to the house of Alexander and found him lying in a pool of blood. Hillary was nowhere to be seen then.

Police later arrested Hillary.

Money is the root cause of all evil!!!! :D . but I don't see people complaining when they get their salary.
Don't say something is a root cause. humans are creatures capable of good and horrible things irrespective of their choice use or alcohol, smoking or food.

He is staying alone with wife in ashram indicates the mans personality. He may be a drunkard abusive and living without a purpose in life. He is dead and gone. May his soul rest in peace.

Easy to judge others without knowing the background. What if she was ill and he was finding it difficult to take care of her due to his age or own weakness (disability or illness). Please mind your own business and not bother how others are living their lives if it doesn't concern you.

@Stan udipi,Dubai, dont judge a person from media comments.Becuse he may be abusive and drunker, etc, one dont keep or get admission in Ashram. Now he is dead and cant go against your comment.Only one is sick and cant be lookafter at home,is kept in Ashram ,even the person who is at home is sick and labile,is accepted or according their financial situation.Fast accusing a person is really sad.May his soul rest in peace.

Relations and friends are very important in our life. With whom u share your happiness and other feelings that is important.Even liquor for that matter.we can share everything in family, but when it comes to friendship some kind of discipline should be maintained.

Even more discipline is needed in the consumption of alcohol, as it is the influence of alcohol which at least aggravated the situation if not caused it.
