Bengaluru: State government to permit online retail sale of liquor?

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (EP)

Bengaluru, Oct 21: The state government is preparing to give sweet news to liquor lovers. They will be able to order liquor online and get it delivered at home. There will be no need to go to wine shops or bars after that to buy liquor.

Karnataka government has prepared such plan while discussions by people for and against similar move by the Maharashtra government are in progress.

The government has decided to bring in amendments and add more regulations to the present law concerning sale of liquor.

If everything goes as planned, the government will table the proposal in its session in Belagavi. The motive may have hidden agenda of collecting more tax to make up for the money spent to waive off farmers’ loans.

Selling liquor online will not be successful simply because no one wanted others to track your purchase and payments. It is easy to identify who is an alcoholic. In western countries, people hardly use their credit card for purchase of liquor because they don't want to be tracked. Pay cash.

This was bound to happen sooner or later.

The online sale will ensure the Government collects all taxes.

With shops retailing, there is not only the issue of significant tax evasion, but also a chance of selling adulerated contents.

It must be noted however that the retail outlets are often owned by smaller investors, and generate a fair amount of employment.

Regardless, liquor destroys individuals, families and the society.

State government's idea to permit online retail sale of liquor is ridiculous.Because main motive behind this move is to earn money at the cost of people's health. In one hand government is telling liquor is bad for health, family of the daily is becoming poorer and poorer, have to beg for their daily food when bread earner become addicted to liquor and in the other hand it is being promoted.Ware Wah,what a government it is.Government should be lauded for this move.In most of the places, people want to ban the liquor and close the liquor but our government is encouraging to for online trading. What a fun and what type of ministers ruling us.Concerned authorities should be sacked for mooting this idea.

Tell your Feku to reduce the price of Petroliam products. Tell us honestly now a days who r the real followers of MK Gandhi?

Do locals drink liquor. Heard from neighbouring country people flock in large number on week days and are doing halla-goola...throwing there attaire here and there. They do not have any experience as like westerners..they feel it's same like water. Came to notice also going to open for there citizens...where now not available. Is it true our people are drinking home made brewaries - country to shed there depression.

Navin, nice to hear that U buy Alcohol online in Bahrain. Bahrain is one of the most progressive state amongst Gulf States. In fact I was lucky to live & work there for 6years during late 1970s. Even the local Bahrainy & other Muslim people r free to buy liquor there without any permit. Good luck, enjoy your drink. Cheers!
