Belangady, Oct 21: Saturday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations relating to the town panchayat election here. With two candidates withdrawing their nominations on Saturday, 28 have remained in the field as against 11 posts in the town panchayat.
Both the BJP and Congress have fielded their candidates in all the 11 wards. In several of the wards, there is a direct fight between these two parties. BSP has fielded two candidates, one has been fielded by JD(S), one from SDPI and two independents have remained in contention;
