Bengaluru, Oct 21: Former Prime Minister, H D Deve Gowda, said that before and after the coming Lok Sabha election, there will be definite changes in the national politics. Without elaborating on his thoughts what he meant, he asked media persons to just wait and watch for the changes to happen.

Addressing a joint press conference after a long period along with chairman of coordination committee of the coalition government, Siddaramaiah, who was his party colleague for many years before the two parted ways, Deve Gowda said that just because BSP and Congress failed to enter into an electoral understanding in three states does not mean that the 'Mahagathbandhan' failed in its objective.

"Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has commented that Mahagathbandhan has been shredded into pieces. But national politics does not run as per his thinking. There will be certain developments both before the election and after," he said.

Deve Gowda noted that BSP had entered into understanding with JD(S) in the state. "Congress, which is a national party, has strong presence in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It is in a position to fight BJP alone in these states. Just because BSP and Congress could not come together now does not mean that they will never join hands in future," he explained.

Deve Gowda said that all the likeminded parties will unite under the leadership of Congress to fight against BJP during the Lok Sabha election. He said that the alliance at the state level will continue, and that he is not too much bothered about how many seats would be shared between the coalition partners. "We are not here to achieve out personal ambitions or selfish interests. We have joined hands to save the country. BJP has suffered reverses when secular forces came together like in by-polls in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar," he claimed.

When questioned about his prediction about the next Prime Minister, he said that when he had undertaken campaigning in the past along with Siddaramaiah, this question had been posed by some, and that he had responded by saying that there the country has crores of able citizens and that one among them will become the Prime Minister.
