Beltangady: Assault on DYFI activist - head constable suspended

Beltangady, Oct 20: Head constable of Venoor police station in the taluk, Taranath, has been suspended for allegedly assaulting Riaz Mantoor, an activist of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and his brother, informed Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP), Dr B R Ravikanthe Gowda.

The SP also sated that he has ordered for an inquiry by police circle inspector relating to the incident and further steps would be taken on the basis of the said report.

DYFI district secretary, Santosh Bajal, had complained to the SP, alleging that Taranath had derided the above two persons in the name of their religion, besides lodging them inside the lockup and assaulting them.
