Kozhikode: Woman loses job for Facebook post of visiting Sabarimala

Daijiworld Media Network - Kozhikode (MS)

Kozhikode, Oct 17: In a shocking incident, a woman who was on fast as a penance to visit the holy shrine of Sabarimala was rusticated by the company. She was employed by a private firm in the city in their sales department.

The lady in question was following the procedure of fasting at a temple in the city, before visiting the temple in Sabarimala as per the standard procedure. She posted the news of her fasting on the social site Facebook. However, she was in for a shock as she was trolled and bullied by the Facebook users.

The woman was threatened her at the office also by some people. Due to all these developments, the head office of the company asked her to proceed on temporary leave.

In their statement, the management of the company said that the post of the woman on Facebook and her intention to visit the Sabarimala temple at the controversial time might cause the company to lose its clientele. A friend of the woman said that though the lady in question is asked to proceed on temporary leave, it seems she is given marching orders by the company and may never return back to her position.

An individual who has surrendered 100% to the Lord is neither a man t,woman,hindu,christian,muslim..this or that..
He neither aspires to visit any other place other than his own inner self.
While I do not brush aside age old traditions and the reasons for a particular way of thinking is well thought off .. But I see that mostly sabarimala devotees seems to carry penance during 1 month period and later go back to their older ways ...I believe its the same with other practices ..such as ramadhan fasting .or christian fasting during good friday ..All seem to be ok during this period but the penance is stopped they go back to their old ways ..I wonder why not continue being good human beings all round the clock?

How can employer sack the employee as long as she is carrying out her duties and following the
discipline of work at the work place. Its purely her personal look out whether she goes to
Shabarimala or ganga yatra. Even if there is some posting on Facebook it is her personal views; why should the management of her firm worry about these things. Something unacceptable

What I find more silly is the woman having to post about fasting on Facebook. Why? Fast. Pray. Visit temple. Do whatever your faith and belief tells you is moral and right. Keep to yourself. Why go 'like' and 'heart' and 'thumbs up' hunting on social media?

No respect or privacy for anything in anyone's life anymore. People just don't seem to want any real life at all. All they're concerned about is life in social media. Such a sorry world this is turning out to be with a lot of fake people.

Only thing that gives the mind some relief is that sometimes we do come across some genuine people who care too. Wish there were more of them.

“Religion is an insult to human dignity, with or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things that takes religion”. American Nobel prize winning physicist Steven Weinberg said this. We may not be knowing under what circumstances an American scientists has to say this, but this quote explains our Indian hypocrisy well.

Where is Modi's beti padhao beti bachao and women empowerment slogan? Yesturday in shabarimala , women devotees are forcefully stopped entering temple and women journalists are attacked by sanghi goons.
Few days back Modi govt. passed the ordinance on triple talaq and welcome the Babri masjid verdict when SC precised as mosque is not manadatory for namaz. Now what happening? Is religion or faith appears them above country or constitution when it comes to them?
    Double faced crooks exposed now.

Being literate and being educated are two different things – and Kerala has just proved it in the last couple of days. Authority (i.e. the State Government) without force is impotence; and force without authority is a bully. And this is on open display on the roads of Kerala today.

I think the best thing the Kerala Government could have done is to put women IPS and IAS officers as SP / DySP / DC’s of Iddukki district and also put women officers in-charge of every police station and administration office of the district. Each of these women officers will be in their 30’s and 40’s.

Then it would be interesting to see how these samaj-ke-thekedaar’s from Travancore Devaswom Board will undertake the annual pilgrimage without the support of the police / administration.

I agree that you all are fighting for justice and to visit your favorite temple Lord . however please note that Lord does not stay only in temple he stays at your heart as well . Talk to him when you are alone.

Lord does not dwell where there is too much noise & lots of controversy, it applies to all religions.
