Amid #MeToo allegations, MJ Akbar resigns as Union Minister

New Delhi, Oct 17(DC): As more women came out and accused M J Akbar of sexually harassing them, the Union Minister on Wednesday resigned from his post of Minister of State External Affairs.

“Since I have decided to seek justice in a court of law in my personal capacity, I deem it appropriate to step down from my office and challenge false accusation levied against me, also in a personal capacity,” Akbar said in his statement.

“I have, therefore, tendered my resignation from the office of Minister of State for External Affairs. I am deeply grateful to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and to the external Affair Minister Smt Sushma Swaraj for the opportunity they gave me to serve my country," he added.

The editor-turned-politician has been accused by multiple women of sexually harassing them in accounts that have surfaced in the #MeToo movement.

I do not feel proud by whatever I have today and I do not believe in boasting.
We will not take wealth when we go away from this earth. I can proudly declare that I am blessed by God, my elders, friends and well-wishers. One thing that annoys me is (Tell the truth) in spite of the name he does not signify any truth in his comments (big liar) He should change the fake name to 'Never be truthful'

    Thanks for your advice.
FYI, such situation may come with those who are not sound in mind and prefer to spend thoughtlessly and lavishly. Moreover, I have come up from scratch i.e. hard way and I know the value of money/savings.
I can guarantee you to any extent that God has given me right frame of mind and wisdom to earn, spend (as needed) and save (50%) for the future. Also, if possible help those who are in need.

In what is being hailed as a victory for women in the country, MoS MJ Akbar resigned after more than 16 women accused him of alleged sexual harassment.

According to a report, Akbar filed the criminal defamation case against Ramani in Delhi’s Patiala House Court through his advocates Karanjawala and Co. The junior foreign minister will be represented by 97 lawyers including 30 female advocates. His case is likely to come up for hearing immediately after lunch on 18th October.

Today women of India feel vindicated by MJ Akbar’s resignation. I look forward to the day when I will also get justice in court #metoo

In the past Union Minister of State Nihalchand Meghwal only MP from Rajasthan in Modi's council of ministers summoned in rape case and later being dropped as MoS in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, the woman who had accused him of rape in 2011 says the move is “the first silver lining in five years.”

The woman had filed a complaint in 2011 at Vaishali Nagar which named Nihal Chand as one of the persons who sexually exploited her.

According to the 'Assosiation of Democratic Rights' BJP has highest no. of MPs, MLAs with cases of crime against women. Names of Winners for the 16th Lok Sabha who have declared Criminal Cases against themselves list first 113 names are from BJP and its ally Shiv Sena as ADR report.

Giving party-wise details, the study stated that among various recognised parties, the BJP has the highest number of MPs and MLAs (14), followed by the Shiv Sena (7) who have declared cases related to crime against women.

The BJP which used 'Nirbhya' rape case as poll plank to overthrow Delhi Sheild Dixit government today Less than 30 per cent of the much-hyped Nirbhaya Fund, that now has run up to Rs 3,100 crores, has been utilised so far in the last five years despite tall claims by the government on women's safety and welfare in the country, an RTI reply has revealed.

'Beti Bachao' is not a slogan but a warning to women of India.

Other central Ministers and state Govt Ministers who are involved in alleged acts of Corruption should follow the example of MJ Akbar and resign as there has been no accountability at all under the Modi Sarkar with a free for all situation existing in the country with the PM refusing to take any action less his position gets affected.

BJP now is the time to show the country that you are a party with a difference.

Dear Chaddies you have not done a favour to the nation by your minister resigning. Your party of backed to a corner and floored on the mat. There was no other alternative left but to ask your tainted minister to quit.

You have filed so many false cases against congress and all of them are out because of lack of evidence and clarity of charges. Whereas you shielded your candidates without any action when whole of India is shouting foul and your Feku PM mum on all your offences. We don't put Chaddi for whoever is accused of any offence, we take appropriate action at the right time. Even Chaddi is anti national dress so we prefer chaddiless and wear dhoti Kurtha.
