World should thank us for eliminating terrorism: Pakistan Army spokesperson

London, Oct 17(Zee News): In a county where a globally-recognised terrorist is permitted to have his representatives contest in elections, there is also a strong desire for appreciation for apparent efforts to end terrorism. This was amply clear from a speech made by the spokesperson of Pakistan's army in UK where he said his country had toiled hard in the battle against terrorists.

Major General Asif Ghafor, chief of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said during a lecture at the University of Warwick that his country is playing a significant role in ensuring peace and security in the sub-continent and in the world. “The world should thank Pakistan for its contribution to eliminating terrorism," he was quoted as saying by Dawn. He would go on to highlight how the country's army had made sacrifices to keep terrorists at bay.

Pakistan has repeatedly attempted to show the world that it has waged a massive war and one that has come at a tremendous cost. There is no explanation though about why it continues to arm and train terrorists targeting India, why US-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed is allowed to open a political front or why the Haqqani Network continues to exist despite the US repeatedly warning Islamabd to crackdown on home-grown terrorists. Even northern neighbours Afghanistan have cited time and again that Pakistan harbours terrorists that wish to unleash chaos in the region. There is also a constant fear that the country's nuclear installations can fall to terrorists.

For now, despite Ghafor's opinion on a pending word of thanks, no gratitude from the world is expected.

    @ Shankar,
Very very reasonable, wise and well balance coments.
    I totally agree with you.
War is not an answer at all.
Diplomacy and negotiations to have amicable settlement is in the interest of both the countries. To eliminate PAK is not easy or few days game or fun-fare. They too are nuclear powered country. Both countries will fight and get killed.

    Terrorism is perception based.
The actions of IRA was terrorism for Great Briton but for Irish people , the actions were fights for freedom.

For Palestinians, a rocket on Israel is an act of proving sovereignty whereas for Israel it is an act of terrorism.

Malegao blasts is terrorism for Muslims in India whereas an act of vengeance for saffron fringe groups.

Indian intervention in Baluch is an action of pride for Indians whereas an action of terrorism for Pakistanis.

In the same way, for pakistanis, the funding and assisting infiltrators to India is Pak's support for freedom seekers of Kashmir whereas for India it is terrorism.

For India and Pakistan, there are only two options left to solve the Kashmir issue. discuss on a table, take a step back and try an amicable solution so that there will not be further deaths in the valley. Or get into full fledged war and finish the issue forever.
