Puttur, Oct 15: Neil Mascarenhas of Puttur Aquatic Club (PAC) bagged five medals at the state level SGFI swimming competition held October 9 and 10 at Basavanagudi Swimming pool, Bengaluru.

Neil Mascarenhas qualified for the national level swimming competition by winning 5 medals at the State level SGFI meet.

Neil won 2 gold medals in 50 and 100 metres breaststroke. He won 2 silver medals in 200 metres individual medley and 4x 100 metres medley relay and a bronze medal in 4x100 metres freestyle relay.

On October 13, in the Dasara Games CM cup 2018 held at Chamundi Vihar stadium, Mysuru, Neil won 2 bronze medals in 100 and 200 metres breaststroke. This competition was conducted by the department of youth Empowerment & Sports and district administration, Mysuru.

Neil is a class 10 student from St Philomena High school, Puttur. He is being coached by Partha Varanashi, Niroop G R, and Rohith at Dr Shivarama Karantha Balawana Swimming pool, Puttur and St Aloysius swimming pool, Mangaluru.

Neil is the son of Dr Norbert Mascarenhas, assistant professor of History at St Philomena College and Pramela Mascarenhas, principal of Government PU College for Girls, Puttur.
