India's September wholesale inflation rises to 5.13%

New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS): India's annual rate of inflation based on wholesale prices increased to 5.13 per cent in September from a rise of 4.53 per cent in August, official data showed here on Monday.

Even, on a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) data furnished by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry was higher than 3.14 per cent reported for the corresponding period of 2017.

"The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at 5.13 per cent (provisional) for the month of September, 2018 (over September, 2017)as compared to 4.53 per cent (provisional) for the previous month and 3.14 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year," the Ministry said in its September review of wholesale price in India.

"Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 3.87 per cent compared to a build up rate of 1.50 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year."

    Present inflation is much more ....it's near about 8%... but the BJP is giving wrong data to fool people.......with the help of pay media and pay analysts......

    This 5.3% WPI looks more or less same like 2013-14. I am neither glorying UPA nor NDA. I am only telling the real facts. See the chart below and know how can one compare the present with the previous UPA years, when Base year is changed in 2014. If next govt changes Base year again, it will give different result. This is the cunning way to fool public, I mean whoever changes it, be it UPA or NDA.

    ( Wholesale Price Index -WPI):
    In 2013-14: 5.2% (Base Year -2004-05)
    In 2016-17: 1.7% (Base Year -2011-12)
    Consumer Price Index-CPI:
    In 2013-14 : 9.4% (Base Year -2004-05)
    In 2016-17 : 4.5% (Base Year -2011-12)

    I still remember and may be most of the readers would remember jeevan, Mangalore, who was an ardent follower of BJP (now no trace of him) once commented that we (Hindus) do not care for Indian economy but want Modi to bring total ban on Cow slaughter and Beef ban on all.

    They can boast about these facts in coming election campaign in addition to Fuel price and Rupee going higher. Mr. Modi can convince the farmers saying see against one dollar we get 100 Rupees.
    Whatever published inflation tally is not final. Wait till next January and we will see magical figures.
